The City Government Encourages HIPMI to Advance Yogyakarta's Economy

Daftar SbmptnThe Yogyakarta City Government (Pemkot) continues to encourage the active participation of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in advancing the regional economy. This step is part of the city government’s strategy to strengthen the business ecosystem, encourage innovation, and improve the welfare of the people of Yogyakarta. Encouraging Local Economic Growth Yogyakarta Mayor, Dr. Haryadi Santoso, emphasized that HIPMI plays a strategic role in supporting local economic growth.

Through synergy with the government, HIPMI is expected to become a driving force for the creative business sector, MSMEs, and local investment. “The city government encourages HIPMI to take advantage of business opportunities in this city. With solid cooperation, we can increase innovation and create new jobs for the community,” said Haryadi when opening a discussion forum with young HIPMI entrepreneurs at Yogyakarta City Hall on Thursday (11/16/2025). Focus on MSME Development and Creative Entrepreneurship One of the main focuses is the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the creative entrepreneurship sector.

Yogyakarta is known as a city of culture and tourism, so the business potential in the creative sector is enormous. Haryadi added, “HIPMI can play a role in facilitating training, mentoring, and assistance for MSMEs. This is crucial for local products to compete nationally and internationally.” Collaboration with Financial Institutions and Investors The city government is also encouraging HIPMI to collaborate with financial institutions, banks, and investors. The goal is to increase access to capital for young entrepreneurs and MSMEs with great potential but limited capital. The Chairman of HIPMI Yogyakarta, Rendra Prasetyo, welcomed the city government’s encouragement. “We will strengthen business networks, provide entrepreneurial training, and encourage innovation relevant to market needs. Collaboration with the city government is crucial for the sustainability of the local economy,” said Rendra. Innovation and Technology as Key The city government emphasizes the importance of utilizing technology and innovation in advancing the economy.

HIPMI is encouraged to initiate digital platforms, e-commerce, and online marketing systems to make it easier for local businesses to reach consumers. “The digital era opens up huge opportunities for young entrepreneurs. With HIPMI’s support, MSMEs can utilize technology to increase productivity and competitiveness,” explained Haryadi.

Human Resources Training and Empowerment Besides capital and innovation, human resources (HR) are key to local economic success. The city government, together with HIPMI, has designed a training and empowerment program for young entrepreneurs, covering everything from business management and digital marketing to finance and product innovation.

This program is expected to produce a generation of resilient young entrepreneurs capable of competing nationally and internationally. “The biggest investment is in human resources. If young entrepreneurs have sufficient skills and knowledge, Yogyakarta’s economy will be even stronger,” said Rendra Prasetyo. The city government’s support for HIPMI also aims to increase investment and competitiveness in Yogyakarta. The city has significant economic potential, particularly in the tourism, creative, culinary, and technology sectors. By empowering young entrepreneurs, this potential can be maximized to boost regional economic growth.

The mayor added, “Investment and innovation must go hand in hand. HIPMI, as a platform for young entrepreneurs, has the energy and fresh ideas that can propel Yogyakarta’s economy to new heights.” The Yogyakarta city government is also preparing pro-business policies, such as streamlined licensing, tax incentives, and regulatory support that foster a conducive business climate. This signals to young entrepreneurs that the government fully supports business growth in the city. “With the right policies and HIPMI’s support, young entrepreneurs can grow and make a significant contribution to the city’s economy.

This synergy will benefit the wider community,” explained Haryadi. The collaboration between the City Government and HIPMI is expected to create a dynamic, innovative, and sustainable economic ecosystem. The government hopes that young entrepreneurs will not only focus on business profits but also play a role in community empowerment and local economic development. “HIPMI has a significant responsibility to encourage young entrepreneurs and MSMEs. With effective synergy, Yogyakarta can become an economically advanced, creative, and inclusive city,” concluded Mayor Haryadi.

The Yogyakarta City Government’s support for HIPMI demonstrates the government’s commitment to developing the local economy through young entrepreneurs. Focusing on MSMEs, innovation, technology, and human resource empowerment are key strategies for economic growth. With solid collaboration between the government and HIPMI, Yogyakarta has the potential to become a city that is not only economically advanced but also has a strong, innovative, and sustainable business ecosystem. The success of this program is expected to serve as a model for other regions in empowering young entrepreneurs and driving local economic growth.
