Daftarsbmptn.com – The 2025 European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) officially opened at the Innovation and Creativity Center (GIK) of Gadjah Mada University on Thursday (November 6, 2025). The opening ceremony was a lively affair, marking the beginning of the European higher education fair, with 87 leading universities from various European countries participating.
The event was ceremonial and continued with an opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., Director of Partnerships and Global Relations at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), along with Gonçalo Guedes, Communication Coordinator of the European Delegation to Indonesia, symbolically inaugurating EHEF 2025 in Yogyakarta.
In her remarks, the Director of Partnerships and Global Relations at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Prof. Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., expressed her appreciation for the organization of EHEF 2025 and emphasized the importance of educational collaboration between Indonesia and the European Union to expand learning opportunities for Indonesia’s young generation.
“EHEF is an extraordinary opportunity for students to learn about various educational options in Europe. We see a great enthusiasm for learning among Indonesia’s young generation. Gadjah Mada University is proud to be part of this collaboration and shares a shared commitment to advancing education for a better future,” said Prof. Puji Astuti in her remarks.
Communication Coordinator of the European Union Delegation to Indonesia, Gonçalo Guedes, explained that the main goal of EHEF 2025 is to expand access to education for Indonesia’s young generation through study experiences in Europe.
“This exhibition aims to invite as many Indonesian students as possible to experience education, higher education, as well as life and socio-cultural experiences in European countries,” he said in an interview with RRI after the opening on Thursday (November 6, 2025).
Following the inauguration, visitors, consisting of high school students, university students, and lecturers, enthusiastically visited the university booths provided. Each booth displayed information on scholarships, study programs, and academic life in each country.
One participant, Kuinsa, a 10th-grade student at MAN 1 Yogyakarta, expressed that this activity was very beneficial and should be continued next year.
“Maybe next year, I think there should be another one, because this year we’re still in 10th grade,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kusuma, a student from the same school, echoed this sentiment. “I feel like this event needs to be held again next year because it really gave me new insights,” he said. (Wulan/Tiara).
