Daftar Sbmptn – The Al-Aziziyah Sharia College (STIS) in Sabang continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of education through various strategic programs that address academic aspects, human resource quality, curriculum updates, and strengthening digital learning facilities. These efforts have received widespread attention from the local community, especially since educational transformation is a key government agenda for strengthening the quality of higher education institutions throughout Indonesia.
The Head of STIS Al-Aziziyah Sabang, Dr. H. Muhammad Firdaus, explained that improving educational quality is not merely a short-term program, but rather a sustainable effort that must be managed consistently. “We want to ensure that students receive a learning experience that is relevant to the needs of the times, without abandoning the character values and Sharia knowledge that are the identity of our campus,” he said during a campus academic meeting.
Curriculum Innovation to Meet the Challenges of the Times
One important step taken by STIS Al-Aziziyah is to update its competency-based curriculum, adapting it to the needs of the workplace and developments in educational technology. The new curriculum not only incorporates Sharia scientific theory but also strengthens digital literacy, modern research methodologies, and the development of students’ soft skills.
According to the Deputy Head of Academic Affairs, Nur Aida, M.Ag, the development of the new curriculum involved practitioners, academics, and external parties who understand the needs of the digital era. “Nowadays, students are no longer satisfied with just understanding theory; they must master relevant technology, be able to communicate, collaborate, and adapt. Therefore, we are developing a more applicable curriculum,” she explained.
The implementation of this new curriculum is also supported by the addition of additional courses such as Digital Research Methods, Islamic Media Literacy, and Sharia Information Management. All of this is expected to increase the competitiveness of STIS Al-Aziziyah Sabang graduates.
Improving Lecturer Competence Through Professional Training
Quality improvement is not only carried out for students, but also through strengthening the capacity of lecturers. Since early 2025, more than 20 STIS Al-Aziziyah lecturers have participated in professional certification programs, teaching methodology training, and workshops on the use of digital learning technology.
This program is carried out in collaboration with several major universities and national training institutions. “We want lecturers to always be updated with the latest developments, including the use of Learning Management Systems, learning applications, and project-based teaching methods,” said the Head of the campus Quality Assurance Institute, Dr. R. Sulaiman.
This step has been proven to improve the quality of classroom teaching. Students report that learning is now more interactive, utilizing case studies, group discussions, and technology-based presentations.
Strengthening Digital Infrastructure and Educational Facilities
To support a more effective learning process, STIS Al-Aziziyah Sabang has also strengthened campus facilities, particularly in the area of digitalization. The campus now has new computer labs, more stable internet access, and multimedia classrooms complete with projectors, smart TVs, and modern audio systems.
Furthermore, the campus has launched an internal e-learning platform that makes it easier for students to access course materials, submit assignments, and even take exams online. This makes the educational process more flexible, especially for students who work while studying.
The campus library has also been updated with a digital collection of e-books, international journals, and online repositories that can be accessed from anywhere. This step helps students conduct research and find academic references more easily.
Strengthening Student Character and Soft Skills
Beyond academic abilities, STIS Al-Aziziyah Sabang places great emphasis on developing student character. Soft skills strengthening programs are a priority through student organization activities, leadership training, entrepreneurship seminars, and regular religious studies.
According to the Head of the Student Executive Board of STIS Al-Aziziyah, Farhan Maulana, these activities provide practical experience for students. “We are trained to be confident, to lead, to think critically, and to work in teams. This is important preparation for entering the community,” he said.
Community service programs are also part of the campus’s efforts to increase student empathy and involvement in social issues. Several ongoing activities include Sharia law counseling, Quran reading training, and mentoring of Sharia-based MSMEs.
Collaboration and Partnerships to Strengthen Quality
STIS Al-Aziziyah Sabang also collaborates with local governments, Islamic educational institutions, and professional organizations to expand internship opportunities, research, and career development for students. These partnerships are expected to strengthen the campus’s reputation as a higher education institution actively contributing to the Sabang and Aceh communities more broadly.
The most recent collaboration is a professional internship program at several Sharia financial institutions and government offices in Sabang. Students are provided with hands-on experience in public administration and Islamic economics.
A New Direction for Technology-Based Islamic Education
With various innovations and improvements, STIS Al-Aziziyah Sabang has set a vision to become a modern Islamic campus that adapts to technological developments. This transformation is believed to be a crucial step in preparing graduates who not only understand religious knowledge but are also able to compete in the digital era.
The campus president emphasized that improvements in educational quality will continue to be gradual and sustainable. “We want to prepare a generation that is knowledgeable, has character, and is ready to face global challenges,” concluded Dr. Firdaus.
