Creative Economy Minister Reveals 3 Key Points for Creative Economy Players

Daftarsbmptn.comMinister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized three important principles that creative economy players must possess to survive and thrive amidst increasingly fierce competition in the digital era and the global market. He made this statement during the 2025 Creative Economy Annual Report in Jakarta on Monday (December 22nd), as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the role of the creative industry in the national economy.

According to Riefky, these three principles are the basic foundation that not only helps creative actors compete domestically but also penetrate the international market, which promises significant opportunities for Indonesian creative products and services.

1. The Richness of Indonesian Culture as a Source of Identity and Competitive Advantage

In his presentation, Riefky emphasized that Indonesia’s rich culture is a crucial asset that creative economy players must master. He explained that the richness of Indonesian culture provides a unique identity for Indonesian creative products and provides competitive value in the global market.

“Creative economy players must be able to develop creativity rooted in Indonesian culture, which differentiates our products from those of other countries,” he said. He cited examples of how major cultures like Bollywood, Hollywood, and K-Pop have been able to become engines of economic growth due to their strong cultural identities.

Riefky sees a wealth of untapped potential in local cultures, from batik motifs and traditional arts to regional culinary specialties. With a deep understanding of cultural roots, creative economy actors can create creative products that have high appeal in the global market.

2. Innovative and Digitally Native Younger Generation

The second key is optimizing Indonesia’s younger generation as a driving force for innovation. Riefky stated that the younger generation is the group that adapts most quickly to digital technology and possesses high creativity in creating new trends.

He believes that creative economy actors must embrace the capabilities of the younger generation, especially those who are familiar with the digital world. This is key to developing creative products that are relevant to the needs of modern consumers, both domestically and internationally.

“The younger generation has a huge advantage because they are digital natives. Utilizing their creativity must be supported by training, access to technology, and extensive networks,” Riefky explained.

The government, through the Ministry of Creative Economy, has prepared various digital training programs for creative MSMEs, particularly in the areas of digital marketing, business management, and technology to support their business activities on digital platforms.

3. Rapid and Equitable Digital Transformation Across Indonesia

The third key point highlighted by the Minister of Creative Economy is the importance of rapid and equitable digital transformation across all regions. In today’s digital era, the ability of creative economy actors to adopt digital technology is no longer an option but a necessity to remain competitive in the global market.

Riefky explained that digital technology opens up much broader market access, including to international consumers. Creative economy actors who are able to maximize digital platforms will have greater opportunities to expand their distribution networks and increase product sales.

“Digitalization is not just about having an online store or social media, but also how to strategically utilize data, digital payment technology, and digital marketing capabilities,” he added.

Creative Economy as a New Engine of Indonesia’s Economic Growth

Riefky believes that if these three key elements are consistently implemented by creative economy actors, this sector will become one of the main engines of national economic growth. He assessed that the creative economy has a significant contribution to national income and employment, especially if it can maximize opportunities in the global market.

This statement is also in line with data showing that the creative applications and technology subsector is one of the most attractive to international investors, reflecting a positive trend in the growth of the creative economy in the country.

In closing, Riefky emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, businesses, creative communities, and the private sector to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem. This cross-sector collaboration will ensure that the strategic guidelines he outlined are not merely slogans but truly a path for creative economy players to succeed in the digital era and global market.
