Daftar Sbmptn – The North Barito (Barut) Regency Government has affirmed its commitment to improving the quality of education throughout the region. This commitment was conveyed directly by the Regent of Barut, H. Nadalsyah, at the 2025 Education Coordination Meeting held at the Regent’s Office Hall on Tuesday (November 19, 2025). The Regent emphasized that education is the foundation of regional development and a top government priority. “The quality of education determines the future of Barut’s young generation. Therefore, we are committed to providing the best facilities, improving teacher competency, and encouraging learning innovation,” said H. Nadalsyah.
One of the Barut Regency Government’s main programs is improving the competency of human resources (HR) teachers. The regional government is collaborating with the Education Office, universities, and training institutions to hold professional training and curriculum workshops for teachers from elementary to secondary levels. The Head of the Barut Education Office, Hj. Siti Mariam, explained, “Teachers are the spearhead of education. By improving their skills, the quality of student learning will automatically improve. We emphasize innovative learning methods, digitalization of materials, and an active student approach.”
This teacher training covers the use of educational technology, digital learning media, and strategies for developing student creativity. Furthermore, the program emphasizes character building and soft skills to prepare students to face global challenges. In addition to improving teacher quality, the Barut Regency Government is also targeting improvements to school infrastructure.
Many schools in remote areas still face challenges such as limited classroom space, libraries, laboratories, and internet access. “The regional government is committed to ensuring that every school has adequate facilities so that students can learn comfortably and optimally. This includes providing laboratories, digital libraries, and representative classrooms,” said Hj. Siti Mariam. Several schools have received upgraded learning facilities, including information technology equipment, computers, and internet connections that enable online learning.
This step is expected to open access to modern education for all students, including those in remote areas. The Barut Regency Government is also encouraging the development of innovative learning programs that combine traditional and digital methods. For example, project-based learning, science experiments, and the development of artistic creativity. “Beyond academics, we want students to develop critical, creative, and adaptive thinking skills. Learning innovation is key to enabling students to compete at the national and international levels,” explained Regent Nadalsyah.
Several pilot schools have implemented digital classes and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)-based learning. This program has received a positive response from teachers, students, and parents, as it has increased students’ interest in learning and analytical skills.
The Barut Regency Government is also collaborating with communities and the private sector to support education. Several local companies and non-profit organizations are participating through scholarships, workshops, and the provision of additional facilities. “Education is not only the responsibility of the government, but also of all elements of society. Collaboration with the private sector and local communities helps create a more equitable and high-quality education ecosystem,” said H.
Nadalsyah. The local government emphasizes inclusive education, ensuring that all children, including those with disabilities and children from low-income families, have equal access to education. “We want no child to be left behind. Inclusive programs include support from specialized teachers, adaptive learning resources, and access to scholarships for underprivileged students,” explained Hj.
Siti Mariam. In addition to academic competency, the Barut Regency Government emphasizes strengthening character, national values, and local culture. Students are introduced to regional history, local traditions, and moral and social values relevant to everyday life. “Education is not just about academics, but also about shaping the character of a young generation with integrity, discipline, and care for the environment,” said the Regent.
The Barut Regency Government hopes that through these various education improvement programs, Barut’s young generation will be able to compete at the national and global levels. Quality education will be the driving force for economic and social development, while also improving community welfare. “We want Barut to be known as a region rich not only in natural resources but also in superior human resources. Education is our greatest investment,” concluded Regent Nadalsyah.
The Barut Regency Government’s commitment to improving the quality of education includes improving teacher competency, improving learning facilities, innovating learning, inclusive education, and strengthening student character. Synergy with the community and the private sector also supports the creation of a better education ecosystem. With these steps, it is hoped that education in Barut will not only produce a generation that is academically intelligent, but also one that is creative, adaptive, and ready to face future challenges. This commitment forms the foundation for long-term development and the overall well-being of the Barut community.
